Fun, Fizzy, (Science) Magic for Toddlers

We were having one of those days…. It was raining outside and Jo was coloring on my walls. (literally, go check out the FB picture).

I needed to whip something together FAST! Thankfully, all you need are a few basic home ingredients to make Fun, Fizzy, Science Magic! (Don’t hate the name.. that’s exactly what it is to a toddler!!)

You Need:
-Baking Soda, Vinegar, Food Dye, Syringe/Dropper and a Plate.
I took about 2 tablespoons of vinegar and poured them into a few little bowls.
-Then squeeze a drop of food dye into the vinegar.
– Now, sprinkle some baking soda on a plate. I would recommend just enough to cover the bottom.
Then just let your little one have at it, within seconds they too will have Fun, Fizzy Magic!

In total this took about 3 minutes to prep and clean up, and probably lasted about 30/40 minutes of play. Needless to say, we will definitely be doing this again! The best part about this project is that you can tailor it towards your kid! If your child is a little older start with making a volcano out of play dough and then add the fizzy fun to make it explode. Or you could just allow them to use different tools to combine the products. Maybe try pouring the vinegar into a bowl of baking soda, or spoon out spoonfuls of baking soda into the vinegar…etc. Have fun with it! It’s quick and easy and the best part is you probably have the supplies on hand!
